Environmental activist and bamboo bike adventurer returns to Cumbria

In 2017, former University of Cumbria lecturer Dr Kate Rawles rode Woody, a bamboo bike that she built herself, the length of South America exploring biodiversity.

This September she returns to the Ambleside campus at University of Cumbria to share her findings and thoughts. What is biodiversity, what's happening to it, why does this matter and above all what can be done to protect it? Join Kate for stories and pictures from her 8288-mile journey; the highs and lows, the people and places and of course, the bamboo bike. The event is hosted by Cumbria University and supported by Heart of the Lakes cottage company.

Peter Jackson, Partner at Heart of the Lakes says;

“Heart of the Lakes are proud to support Kate Rawles. She is passionate about the environment and uses her adventurous journeys to highlight the many challenges that our planet faces, we’re delighted she returns to Amblside to share her discoveries in this fascinating talk.”
