Beer There or Beer Elsewhere

Beer There or Beer Elsewhere

Is it a bar? Is it an off-licence? Yes, it’s both, it’s Beerwolf. Enterprising local man Alan Munro with his new business on Market Street has brought the concept of the bottle shop to Ulverston. His aim is to give beer-lovers and potential beer-lovers the widest choice of craft beer and ales as he can, and on his opening day on 26th October he had over 200 different bottled beers as well as eight beers and two ales on tap. He intends to change his stock regularly so that all tastes are catered for. Gone are the days when people were satisfied with a gassy flavourless pint from a big industrial brewery and with the explosion of small breweries creating characterful beers there are now over 2,000 breweries in the UK, the highest number since the 1930’s. Alan recognised that although we now have fine local breweries, there weren’t that many places where their beers were sold to the discerning customer of today.  He and his friends have transformed a former letting agency and an upstairs space untouched for fifteen years into a bar and display area, and built a cold room to keep cask and keg ale and beer at the right temperature. You can enjoy a beer on the premises or pop in and take his advice on a bottle or two to take home. Initially, Alan planned to keep open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and to open between 10 am and 6 pm on other days, so if you are looking for a favourite brew or to have a change from your usual, do pay him a visit.
