Amateur Football Round Up
Walney Island have relinquished top spot in the West Lancashire Division 2 League, after a mini-slump in form that saw them win just one of four league games in November. Although they have lost just one league game all season, draws against Garstang Reserves and local rivals Dalton United and a home defeat to Croston Sports, saw them drop to fourth place coming into the start of the festive fixtures. A win against Rishton United though means they have progressed to the Fourth Round of the Lancashire Amateur Cup.
Dalton United remain on the heels of the top two despite enduring a difficult November. A heavy league defeat to Charnock Richard Reserves and a cup exit to Cartmel & District in the second round have put a dent in an otherwise superb season so far.
Meanwhile in the West Lancashire First Division, Ulverston enjoyed an excellent November to move into the top of half of the table. After an indifferent start to the season which saw them pick up five wins and seven defeats in the first 12 games, hard-fought victories against CMB and Kendal County has got them moving in the right direction.
However Askam United remain in a sorry state, with just one win and a draw from their first 14 league games. They are ten points adrift from the next team above them in the table and even suffered a home defeat at the hands to bottom club Wyre Villa.
